Just as a thought could we have a thread where we list all the work done in the garden in a monthly basis, and just watch the time and effort grow, with perhaps a compy at the end of the year for the garden with most progress......
As I'm offshore Thursday I can add in January's now.... all I've really gotten done is a general tidy up, clearing dead leaves and cutting back dead bits and planting a Kilmarnock Willow and moving another small shrub. Not a lot due to weather.

It has been suggested to me by several people, including RF, that this idea of CB's is essentially a duplication of the monthly series started by OM which lists jobs to be undertaken, month by month throughout the year. Unfortunately, as I tend not to read messages thoroughly, I was almost convinced that this was the case. However, CB has now confirmed, as should have been obvious to me if I had read things properly in the first place, that his idea was for people to post their gardening achievements - ideally with photos - whether it be a new pond, or raised beds or growing veg for the first time, or indeed as in CB's case, starting a new garden from scratch. As there is no competition between the two threads, (if anything they compliment each other) I can see no reason for people not to use it to post details of their new 'projects'. Whether there will be a prize at the end of the year for the best improved garden etc, remains to be seen. It's still a worthwhile exercise though IMO. So, what are you waiting for? Spruance

Spruance Thanks for that Spruance, I understand it better now you have explained what CB really meant to say. There are a few projects already on the go in Gardening. TJ, Clinty, 4P, dirtyboots and myself. Plocket, Alicat, FA and CPB are also contenders for future threads sharing their projects too. Sorry if I've missed anyone off the list.

This thread can work alongside OM's January thread, he lists the jobs that could/should be done but as every garden is different the tasks that you actually get done can be put in here with photo's added if you wish.
The idea was just to see how much time and effort we do put into our gardens over the year with the results in pictures.
As an after thought there could possibly be a prise for the best efforts done.

What a good idea, lots of ideas for us I hope, Not exactly Gertrude!. In essence, this thread is for the results, whilst the ideas are on OM's thread. As to the question of a possible prize, this will be considered at a future date, but it is not guaranteed. Consequently members are most welcome to participate in this venture 'for the fun of it' rather than with the sole objective of winning a prize at the end of the year.
