I still find these boards difficult to use - they seem so longwinded! Some threads go into 10,11 or 12 pages and even if they look interesting it's impossible ( to simple minded me!) to wade through it all. Also, is there a facility similar to "Your discussions" on other boards - where you can quickly go and see threads to which you have contributed? I tried bookmarking things but I never see them again I REALLY like this board and want to contribute more, but being an auricula of little brain need your help and advice..pleeeasee!

Hello Auricula
I was thinking about you on Saturday when we stuffed Col U 3-2. It was nearly enough to get me to post over on the beeb !!! ;D
When you get to the homepage and you see all the boards listed "Garden Gallery""Beds & Borders" etc), just think of each individual one as being a message board in its own right, a bit like the Beeb's "Design Inspiration" board. Then you only need to visit the ones you want to visit and each thread is just like a thread on the Beeb board - some are longer and more surreal than others and some are short and to the point.
You can view only the new posts on each thread by clicking the little "new" next to the thread title or you can go to the last post on the thread by clicking "today" or "yesterday" or the date of the last post above the poster's name.
If you go to the top of the page where it says "profile" and click on it, you can view your last 100 posts (if you really want to !) by putting 100 in the box and clicking on "submit". You can also view your bookmarked threads by clicking on the word "bookmarks" at the top of your profile.
Another good thing you can do is switch off the signatures. You can do this by going to your profile and then clicking "modify profile". Scroll down until you see "show signatures" and change it to "no" then scroll right to the bottom and hit the "modify profile" button. This makes the messages easier to read.
It is worth sticking around. Once you've got the hang of it, it's really easy to use and great fun.
Hope this helps and hope to see you some more !
FA x

Andy you are mind of info, I've learnt from that thanks. Just going to have a practice now. Didn't know about clicking on the date bit or the New bit.
Auricula, you may find it useful to set up having a personal message notification for threads you have bookmarked. When some one adds to the thread you get a message, so you don't miss new replies.
Go into Profile, then Manage Bookmarks, right at the bottom on the left theres a drop down bit where you can set the default to get a PM on all Bookmarked threads.

Andy you are mind of info, I've learnt from that thanks. Just going to have a practice now. Didn't know about clicking on the date bit or the New bit. 1800 posts and you didn't know that ?!?!? Have you been going into each message and then scrolling through them each time Chuckles ? Must take you forever !! FA x I forgot to say that clicking on the "today" bit etc only works if you are actually in the board the message is on. It doesn't work from the homepage.

yep I confess and it frustates me to hell Good job we got you FA. Never to old to learn though. I hope auricula finds the info as useful as I have. You should get Admin to add some of that stuff to your message to new members thread. I'm sure loads of folk would find it useful. Chuckles x

Just by way of further clarification, it is actually possible to view your last one thousand posts via the box on your profile.

I tried that Spruance and I lost my internet connection! I was trying to find the original "angry" thread when FATBAGS first came into being. Twice it did it actually. Auricula, I think the more you use the boards the easier you'll find them to get around. I really much prefer this layout to the Beeb's now as their 4 catagories are much lengthier than these and I find our layout much more logical. Please persevere!

Thanks FA that will help me a lot. My pc works very slowly so any long or popular threads just take so long to load that I don't ..or can't ..read them. I will try the last post or new post and maybe I will have more luck and be able to add to them as well.
Thanks again

Always happy to help !
The problem is that if you don't know about these things, you can't ask about them ! However, if you're not sure about anything, please ask.

Sorry for not answering - been away! Thanks a lot everyone I'm sure I'll be much better at it now! Andy you're a STAR for explaining so succinctly but a RAT for mentioning the Mighty Col Us slight blip against the cheating tractor boys BOO HISS!!! Still everyone thought they'd be relegated by now so that's something!!! ;D Sorry to go off-point and I'd just like to make it clear that I'm not serious ( wouldn't like this board to get up itself like the Design Inspirations lot over the way!!! ) Will post much more frequently now

Threads have a way of meandering off at a tangent now and again. wouldn't like this board to get up itself like the Design Inspirations lot over the way!!! Will post much more frequently now Brill. Looking forward to seeing you and resuming our footie rivalry (there's a "footie thread" on the general board if you look for it). FA x
