Following on from 'The hardest thing you've tried to grow', I've just been out in the garden and seen the easiest thing: aquilegia, all started from seed in summer 2005 and now unfurling their leaves preparing to put on a show ;D. So ... what's the easiest thing you've grown? ... cheers ...

From seed I think it has to be Feverfew or the seedheads of the previous years' Dahlias. From cuttings a tie between Fuchsias and Lavatera.

Weeds.  no effort at all. Bulbs are almost as simple though, if you can stop the squirrels snacking. |

From seed...good old sunflowers...I don't think I've ever had a seed fail to germinate. I couldn't say if they all get to grown up plants because I give LOADS of them away.....
Cuttings...I'm inexperienced in this department...does this include the cuttings from dahlia tubers when I'm sprouting them in spring? cos they've always been dead easy.. ;D

Morning glory (now I can't stop the bloody things)

Poppies
Sunflowers
French Marigolds

they all seem to grow like weeds in my garden
BUT
I have never succeeded with Morning glory or sunflowers, don't know what I do wrong.

Ditto the morning glory, and echol, escholz....... californian poppies ;D Nigella too, threw them down and now they go absolutely everywhere.  Pretty though! The easiest thing I have grown from seed that I am still happy with are Agastache Apache Sunset, they don't take over but are still going strong after about 3 years.  |
