Well ? ;D
I'm off to the local Wyevale to get my seeds for the trial (hopefully anyway !) and I'd also like to have a bit of a tidy up round the back garden borders. The forecast is good so hopefully we'll all be able to get out and enjoy the garden.

The children are off to their Dads so I am going to spend the whole weekend in the garden this weekend. A quick question on weeding, do you just use a hoe and chop the weed heads off or do you get on your hands and knees and dig them out?

I do the hands and knees thing TJ, if youre not sure where your sleeping plants are you can do a lot of damage with a hoe.

I'm a hands & knees person as well TJ. It's worth getting yourself one of those cushioned kneelers if you've got a lot to do.

The Six Nations starts tomorrow so it will be a rugby weekend, with some cutting of the back lawn squeezed in at some point if the ground is dry enough. I can't believe how long the grass is.

On Sunday I'll be chillin' until I go into work at 9pm....hoping that it's quiet so I can use the lab pooter to talk to my gardening pals on GWD!...

I have some jobs to do in the GH, and would also like to mow the lawn if it stays dry as the grass is getting very long. I really should try to get some digging done too, and also could do with washing out my tomato pots rather than leaving it until the day before I need to use them. I've got 3 months yet, so I might just get them done in time. Mainly just garden maintenance jobs. I was thinking of pruning my roses, but I'll probably give that a miss in view of the forecast frosts. Then of course there's the compost heap. The 'working' side is full. The other side is full, and the overflow (bags stacked behind the shed) is also full up. It's not a terribly attractive job but I need to empty one bin otherwise we'll have compost coming out of our ears. It's just a question of what to do with it all.

Well, I shall mostly be entertaining smallest and hospital visiting but I hope to manage a teeny time in the garden to dig some holes to plunge my bulb pots in as they all growing fast. For some reason my GH and PT are reasonably clean and tidy...I don't know how that happened! I may get smallest to fill up a wheelbarrow with molehills and dump them on a veggie bed. I don't know if she'll class that as entertainment these days as she's getting a bit grown up (7).

Just pottering around at home today (waiting for a new washing machine and have no idea what time it will turn up ) Feeling slightly fragile today as was at a works do last night ;D OH cut the grass yesterday so I really should get outside and have a tidy up - maybe later when the fog in my head clears.

I've done cleared out the front front border (the one in front of the front wall so more or less on the pavement) of dead stuff, and I cut the bamboo down as only had two leaves at the top, hopefully it will regrow, if not I have masses of it eslewhere I can dig up and replant. Then I weeded through the front garden borders, its beautiful out there today and I noticed a huge amount of crocuses coming up. The Bergenia is flowering beautifully, looks a lot happier now that the leaves aren't waterlogged. I have one more bed to weed through and drag dead stuff out of then I will go to the gc and get some compost and mulch to shovel around a bit. Its like spring, I have a tshirt and hoodie on with jeans, my back was getting really hot from the sun!! Before I do anything else however, I will be popping to the corner shop for a can of coke, a baguette and some pate for me lunch

I had a trip to Eggleston Hall Gardens and Nursery today, the gardens were looking really good with a fine display of snowdrops, i bought a few plants to go in my garden which i am completely overhauling at the minute. I bought: Cornus stolonifera 'Flaviramea' Cryptomeria japonica 'elegans compacta' Helleborus orientalis mixed hybrid Helleborus orientalis 'Primrose' Callistemon citrinus 'splendens' Then had a drive back over the Durham Dales in the glorious sunshine and now i'm of to work to stay the night and look after my bosses dogs.
