I am not sure of the exact name of this plant. It has pale pink flowers in the summer. At the moment it has what looks like a fungus on the buds. The leaves are curled in places, with purple stains on the back of some of the leaves.Any advice as to what i can do with this.

I'm no expert, but could it be frost damage?

It's a rhododendron. Is it in acid (ericaceous) soil and are you giving it soft water ?.
The purple on the leaves may be down to a deficiency so make sure you give it a good feed through the growing period.
Other than that, your plant looks a picture of health.

Thanks Andy, much appreciated. What kind of pruning does this need if any.

Does not really need any pruning just the three D's. Dead, diseased and dying.
Looking at yours there is no need for any of these at the minute.

Yep....echo Pauls comments. Leave as it is and enjoy the flowers. Give it a good liquid feed every 2 weeks through the summer (phosphogen, miracle grow etc) and that will build up the flower buds for next spring....which are set in late summer.
Panic ye not....your plant looks superb Robin.
Pics when in flower please....i adore rhodos
