Oooo what memories your photos brought back Plocket - I grew up close to this Hall
Did you see the graves where the horses are buried; they thought a lot of their animals - they had lovely plaques written about them with their names on
I attending some night classes a few years ago which were held by the ex Head Gardener of Arley Hall - he had some wonderful stories to tell

Hi Plocket, How are you ? Mrs G, Missy G and I went last August. Brilliant Herbaceous Border and a lovely old house. They had loads of Hellebores where they still in flower? I also loved the little cottage Folly type thing ! We stayed with a distant reli in Chester, another lovely town (when quite that is)
regards Mr G

hia Jennywrenn! Oooo you are so lucky to grow up close by. My sister used to live in Comberbach which is why I first heard of it and first visited. Margi suggested it this time so of course I leaped at the chance to see the gardens again! We did check out the memorial stones to the animals which I think is a lovely way of remembering other members of the family. Hia Mr G! I'm fine thanks - how are you? There were lots of hellebores still in flower in that sort of rockery garden - the one with the acers? It was lovely! Hia Chuckles! That was my first thought too! Actually there were lots of clematis coming along throughout the gardens but there weren't any up the gazebo thingy - what a waste hey? Actually Margi seemed quite impressed that I recognised an Armandii from about 60 yards!!!

Hello Plocket; Arley Spring Plant Fair is on Sun 06 April. Piggingardener may venture up to it, so I'll probably go too, as I haven't been for a couple or three years. Starts 10am and goes on until 4pm. Gardens are good to go round too; oldest double herbaceous borders in the UK. Couldn't find the Pepper Thread - just to say 'twas the first day of sowing seeds today in "my little greenhouse" ;D ;D The compost has arrived at last! Sowed 15 full trays of chilli and sweet peppers, also some onions and leeks. Some will be ready for pricking out next week! March 08, put it in your diary; Margi has. Personal guided tour by MW, we think.

Hia Yakram! I've got March 8th in my diary but I think it's a no-go because LP has ballet lessons prior to an imminent exam Shame because I would have LOVED to have drooled over met MW - SWOON!!! I've put 6th April in though - I'll see what OH thinks I didn't realise Arley had the oldest double herbaceous borders in the UK - thanks for that info. Ooooo peppers!"Little greenhouse"!!!!! I guess that sowing you've done is just the starters? I've dried my seeds so will try and get around to sowing mine in the next day or so. They can go in my nice warm little porch. I can't even remember what they are called now - Romaine? How's things with you? Px

They can go in my nice warm little porch. I can't even remember what they are called now - Romaine? How's things with you? Px Hi Plocket - shame about HC but family first; I'm sure there will be another meet-up somewhere this year. Hope we can meet up at Arley with PG and Margi of course. You got my drift about 'my little greenhouse' then ;D I found the Pepper thread on the Veg/Fruit section after I'd posted on this one, and posted a similar message there, but I'm replying to you here as future posts won't necessarily be about peppers. Yes, it's all system's go from now on. I'll let you know what I've sown/pricked-out/potted on each week, if I can. Bear in mind I work with 'industrial' quantities in ideal growing conditions. Romano are the long red peppers - I've not sown them yet; the gaffer has twigged there's such a thing as successional sowing! New hips are doing fine, thank you. Consultant said that if he didn't know he'd given me new hips, he never would have guessed More next week ......
