It looks very much as though I will end up with at least 4 - 50 litre tubs empty.
I would love to plant these with Perennials and summer flowers - can any of you help with tips please?
I would like the Wow effect - you know - you walk around a garden and see something and think Wow - that is great!!!
One thing though - all Perennials must be be able to cope with minus 15 at least. I will be wrapping them in fleece together with all other tubs for the winter but I don't particularly want to fall in love with something and have it die each year, although I appreciate that it could happen anyway.

How about annuals RF, then you won't have to worry about the cold, and you can change your colour scheme year by year

I will end up as usual with loads of pots full of annuals really.
The idea was to save some work by just popping the odd annual in a tub partly planted with perennials.

Hi RF ... are there any climbers you could plant up an obelisk/wigwam in the tubs that would make it through the winter? I've seen this done with clematis, and it's definitely 'WOW' ... cheers ...

Morning RF, I have just been potting up my Helleniums that came in the post yesterday and on the information sheet it says that they are hardy down to -30 - just an idea for your pots

Rosefriend, what have you decided on? ... Well I have got loads of idea whirling around my head - a Clematis - must ask Plocket for an idea there unless anyone else knows of a 2 metre (ish) one. Then Roxann mentioned Helleniums which I rather like. They would look lovely with Phlox and Achillea maybe. Then a combination that I saw in a garden mag. Oenothera speciosa (Pink one) with Penstemon and Artemisia. Also something with Salvia's and Geranium and Echinops (bit large) perhaps. RF
