Just a quick one
I'm eating some sandwiches in a cardboard box with a corn starch film on front, it says it is totally % biodegradeable. Is it something I can chuck in the compost bin when finished? how long would the film of corn starch take to break down?
Cheers Paul

I'm sure I read some Sainsbury PR material a while back where they claimed it would biodegrade in 6 months - but that's not necessarily the same as composting as we know it as gardeners, which relies on worms digesting the material.
Dunno if cornstarch is eaten by worms or not, but my guess is that the cardboard would be and the film will 'dissapear' - so, chuck it in, chuck.

Bung it in and see Paul! It shouldn't take too long because it's so thin. I buy biodegradable bags for my compost bucket and they break down fairly quickly.

We have one of those mini green plastic bins just for the kitchen compost waste - and liners would be really useful... they'd need to be about carrier bag size. OM.
