Once we reach the time of year when tomatoes can be put outside mine will be going in containers in a sunny spot. I have the water storage granuales to use but still find they dry out quickly. Can anyone recommend a watering system for containers?

What size containers do you use, borage?

It really depends on how much you want to spend. There are complete irrigation systems all run on timers available from most garden centers and DIY stores.
Failing that....get up earlier and give them a damn good soaking in the morning and the same in the evening.
Capillary matting in a growbag tray might help too

I just water mine morning and night and if I know it's going to be a very warm day, I try to put them in the shade during the hottest part of the day.

I do the same as April with a good old fashioned watering can borage. I guess if you have loads to do a watering system would be really helpful. I've never had any experience with them so really can't help I'm ;Dafraid Glad you mentioned water storage granules borage, I need to get some for the tomato's I'm doing in hanging baskets

You can buy things from B&Q (another shameless plug but I stick with what I know!) that have timers and stuff like sprinkler systems.
Or... you can talk someone into doin it for you? Although we're in the same country, Cardiff is a bit far for me to go unfortunately!

Hi!
As you probably know, in the case of tomatoes it's particularly important to get the watering just right. Erratic watering invariably leads to 'blossom end rot' or (later in the season) split fruit.
If you want to be sure, there are many reasonably cheap moisture meters on the market - they are quite accurate too.
