I bow down to your greatness... I think I already told you that I bought 'The President' and 'Dr. Ruppel'? Well, they have both died back The purple fella is in a container, and the doc is planted against a fence in heavy clay (improved!)) What did I do wrong? Why do clems hate me?! (I have killed two in th past... ) Is there anything I can do to improve their chances?

Nothing wrong with buying Clems for £2.99 from Woolies RM, as long as you remember these are very very young plants and are not always mature enough to plant straight out and survive. It's the same with most plants like this that appear to be a bargain. Basically if your looking for plants to put straight into the garden you are better buying bigger more mature plants from a good GC or Nursery. I bought two the other day from Woolies but they are now in large pots and planted a good 3" up the main stem in good compo and they have been given a good feed too. They have been put in a sheltered spot and will stay in the pots until they get a good root system. It may be worth while digging yours up and doing the same RM you may be lucky and they could shoot from below. I think the moral here is, remember cheap isn't always a bargain, for the price you paid for those 2 you could have had one good Clem in your garden instead of two possibly dead ones
