This is not a joke!
Please Be Extremely Careful especially if using internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning direct from both Microsoft and Norton. Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet.
You may receive an apparently harmless email with a PowerPoint presentation "Life is beautiful." If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete it immediately. If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen saying: "It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful."
Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password.
This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the antivirus software's are not capable of destroying it.
The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself "life owner."

I can see why they create viruses, to cause chaos and mayhem for people, but why the hoaxes? Do you suppose it is to cause chaos and mayhem, without actually causing chaos and mayhem? Does that make any sense? I think they need to get out a bit more!

this is my standard reply to such e-mails .......... hope no one takes offence. This e-mail is a hoax, as are 100% of e-mails that threaten dire warnings and instruct you to e-mail all your friends. IF you're not brave enough to delete such e-mails immediately, go to us.mcafee.com/ and check in their virus vault as to whether the virus exists or not. As incompetent as Microsoft are, do you really think they expect people to pass official warnings from user to user by e-mail ? It's common sense not to open unknown attachments without virus checking them first, and if you have sufficient updated protection, you will have no worries. If you don't, you deserve all you get. All these e-mails do is create panic and use up valuable bandwidth. Here are some more useful links, run these and you should be safe enough. free.grisoft.com/doc/1spybot.safer-networking.de/en/index.htmlwww.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.phpwww.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.htmlThese are all freeware programmes that don't cost a penny. I don't work for any of these company, I am just a regular computer user, that takes adequate protection. I have lost count of the times that I have sent this advice out. Be safe but be aware. Please send this e-mail to all your friends and some day this rubbish will stop. Kind regards (do you like the irony in the last line).
