Just lately I have noticed that my Photinia Red Robin has started shedding leaves, both the new red ones, and the older greener ones. The fallen leaves all seem to have dark blotches on them (no photo at the moment).
The plant looks otherwise very healthy, and has put on a glorious show this year, so I cannot think what might be causing the problem.
Then again, I wonder if it could just be dry, as we have had no rain to speak of for a couple of weeks now, and it is rather warm at the moment.

It does prefer moist conditions, but I was wondering, could it have been caught by a frost, their new growth can sometimes be affected?

Yes, that's a definite posibility Keith. We have had a few early morning frosts lately, but as everything else in the garden seemed ok, it hadn't crossed my mind. I'll have to break out the watering can just in case it's dry though.

Mine gets similar symptoms Spruance, drops all leaves except a few left at the tips of the branches. It happens to be in very dry part of my garden so it could be the dryness. I probabaly ought to think about moving mine it's never really done anygood where it is. Can you spot the pathetic example

That's the strange thing with my photinia Chuckles, it has never looked better than it does this year, but it is still shedding around 20/30 leaves per day.
I'm hoping that it's just a combination of the recent dry weather and early frosts as Keith has suggested.
