Blimey, P. - that's a cracker too! Fabulous parterre... Where is it? Is that a chestnut lower left?

It's on the outskirts of Wolverhampton, and very lovely it is too. I've no idea what sort of tree it was, or even if it's alive. Such a shame because it's stunning!

If I can bring myself to come down the M6 instead of the A1 next time I go to Scotland, I might divert and have a look...
I think it is a Sweet Chestnut - and in that stage of its life, about 300/350 years old, so very contemporary with the house.
Lovely.

Eeek that's a brave decision - taking the M6 I mean! It's only a little house compared to many stately homes, but it is lovely and has a fascinating history.
I thought it might be an oak, and whatever tree it is, I hope it's alive and survives for another x-number of years.

Thanks Plocket
I've got some relatives coming up later in the year and was thinking of taking them to Moseley Old Hall and David Austins. My Aunt is in her eighties, and although very sprightly for her age, I don't want to completely wear her out! It will be ideal and should look lovely later in the year.

There are quite a lot of stairs in the house Piggin because it's three storeys, but it's a lovely place and well worth a visit if you like that sort of thing. What a lovely day out you'll have, when the time comes.
