Ok, here's one for the Ladies.

The task is to build a tree house. You have one week to complete the task, but with a few provisos...

I should perhaps say at this point that our experts have completed the task already in under a week, and so for realism, it is important that our 'DIY builders' should use the same methodology.

Consequently, you will require at least one mitten, (perhaps two members could club together and share a pair) and some strapping of some description. Length depending entirely on your girth! ;D

Firstly, decide which arm you will be using for the task, then ask your OH to firmly strap the other arm to your body so that it cannot be used at all. Then also put the fingerless mitten on the 'working hand'. This is the only direct assistance that your OH may offer although it is permissible for him to help you find your site, and also to keep away intruders.

Having found a suitable location for your DIY efforts it is entirely up to you.

Just a few important points though..…

• There are no instructions!
  
• There are no materials, you must source these locally, on your own, and without removing the arm strapping or the mitten, which must stay in place until the task is completed.
  
• You may not use a ladder under any circumstances.
  

…and finally, the completed tree house must resemble in every respect, a single room of your local maternity unit.

We appreciate that this may be a little difficult for some people, but if our experts can do it, then surely so can you.

It might prove rather difficult Plocket as the nest is 10ft up over uneven ground. The best I can do is an exterior shot I'm afraid.

It's quite exciting though as this is the first ever nest in that tree. There has been a tit-box at the back of the same tree for a few years, but I've never noticed any activity unfortunately.

Of course it's not the only nest in the garden, but it's more apparent being at the bottom in plain sight.

I haven't seen a nest this year, from any bird, but I know there are at least two pairs of birds nesting in a dense conifer just beyond the garden wall. And there are bluetits nesting in next-doors bird box. We've seen a baby blackbird this year though

When I started reading this I really thought you'd lost the plot Spruance ;D I then fell in . Brilliant ;D

Blackbirds are going nuts in my garden collecting nesting material and the Sparrows are at it like doing the courting stuff ;D Great Tits and Blue Tits are loving the dog hairs I put in an old string plant hanger, they go mad for it to line thier nest

What I find incredible is that the birds manage to construct such an intricate nest using only their beaks, hence my analogy.

It's quite amusing watching the male blackbirds at the moment as there are two nests in the pyracantha, and then the one in the tree, all within spitting distance of each other. So we have three male blackbirds escorting each other around the garden, stopping only to jump on unwary starlings and sometimes even collared doves.

The only fly in the ointment is that a magpie has taken to visiting the garden from time to time, so I hope it's not after the eggs.
