I've spent many many many hours at Dunham Massey cos I used to live in Altrincham.
There used to be (and I'd imagine it was still there) a nice little pub if you walked across the footpath over the weir past the new (new as in about 8 years ago) luxury apartments.
I was always wary about walking past the deer. I was convinced they were going to chase me and impale me with their antlers.

We didn't stop to look at the deer but I've spent many a visit there with LP and my sister plus her sprogs. This was the first time I'd been into the gardens though.

Defenitely one for the tree club this garden. Wow I would have loved to spend some time sitting next to that brooklet. Good to hear you all had such a good day.
Jenny oops did your friend have to leave immediately once her dog did that?

There are lots of trees at Dunham Massey. There's an avenue of them leading up to the house from the gate and there's a forest type thing as well.
All proper old trees though not conifers etc. Absolutely bootiful there.
