I've got a couple of blue Salvias, Sara. Is yours about 2 - 3ft and a purply blue? If so, it is a perennial.

Hi Sara, I hope that you no that I have now caught the HRT bug from reading this thread, you should have put a warning at the beginning of it, it is soooooo contagious. Went food shopping Saturday but had to go past the GC (fatal) popped in and got a tree fern. Monday passed again and bought a fatsia. Have decided not to go past again this week Will have to take another route. Carol.

Hi Sara, haven't read this thread before, but now that I view you as a kindred spirit, I thought I would, as I saw you had just posted. I'm presuming that HRT is not what I imagined, the medical stuff? It means saying things like "I need an Echinacea" Unless that is for medical reasons? Despite the fact that they will have to spend the winter in the greenhouse, and I won't get the beauty of them till next year, I have just bought three pots at half price. A soft looking Penstemon, because it had my daughter's name. A Shocking Pink Lobelia Red and white Salvia, think it's called 'hotlips' It's hard enough resisting plants, but when they are half price, less actually, resistance is futile.

Hi WT, HRT stands for Horticultral Retail Therapy. Nothing medical at all and when I refer to something that I needed, that is purely selfish reasoning ;D I must add that my bee's in the garden are very demanding and want only the best Sara

Bees? I'd love to have bees. I feel it's a shame to have all these flowers and their nectar, not being used. But I'm afraid they would annoy my neighbours. Do they cause problems Sara? I have fields on two sides of the house. so I needn't have them at a boundary.

Hi WT, Sorry to disappoint you, I do not keep bee's. I do get honey bee's in the garden have no idea where they come from, do they travel far? Sara
|
|
|
Post by Weeterrier on Sept 11, 2007 8:21:53 GMT
I think they can travel quite far, but that is the extent of my knowledge. Not much is it? ;D

Post by Dutchy on Sept 19, 2007 17:05:57 GMT
Bees do travel. I don't need to get them as there is a bee keeper less than 1 km away and as they travel easily over 3km I get everything polinated.
As for HRT, ever cleared a garden to its bare bones and then walked into a discount area of the Gardencenter.......
I mean even getting past the normal stock is a hard thing...

3 Clematis - Snow Queen, Xerxes and Star of India £4.99 each - 3 for the price of 2 - then 50% off and 15% discount card from FOCUS. So they ended up a giveaway price of £2.49 for the three! The cashier was new and I think she must have made a mistake! PJ
