Hi all, I need to replace one of my garden tables. I want a new one that is a bit like a coffee table. Has any one got suggestions of how to make one? All I want is it to be wood and big enough to have a BBQ by.

Have a look at this link Dutchy which has quite a number of FREE plans/technical drawings on how to build your own garden furniture including various table options.

I recognize the book so will go to the Library as I have seen it there before. The site too is fab but by far to difficult for me. I just want to use simple fence planks and some posts. I am going for cheap, simple and durable.

Dutchy have you seen a table that you like, if you have you could always do a quick sketch of how it it's made up and note down the dimensions and maybe copy it

Found this Dutchy, I know its described as a stool but it could just as easily be a table. I've put it on my list of jobs to do. Looks fairly easy to me ;D www.buildeazy.com/newplans/stool.html

Hope to have a rummage round my wood heap in the next few weeks and see if I have enough bits of wood to have a go at the table ;D

Hi Chuckles, I went to the local second hand wood supply and ended up buying new but affordable fencing wood. I build the above table and it is still in one piece and very useful indeed. It was not too difficult but I could have used an extra pair of hands so when you build yours do try to get some help. If only to hold things in place. ... and bring you a nice cool drink. Good luck with your rummage and making your own table.

That's impressive dutchy. Have you given it some protection from the weather - teak oil or some such? It'd be a shame for it to spoil after all your hard work. Shrub.
