I have never used it on plants but here in Germany a lot of people use an aspirin tablet dissolved in water for cut flowers.
They last a lot longer - I have done it myself.

Hi LL, I do use Aspirin on seedlingsand seed trays, 150mg to 2 gallons of water every 2 weeks. It really does help to get them going and is supposed to help them build their defences. I've been using it for a couple of years now and use it as a spray on the foliage too. There are some concerns for pets but as I have never seen my cats licking water off my plants and they would have to lick all day every day for it to have any effect I am not worried. It is supposed to help germination - I wonder if thats why I have so many squash plants

Strange but I posted about Aspirin on the otherside a long time ago and it wasn't taken seriously. Works for me so I've just got on with it

I wonder how many of you will give it a go, it certainly doesn't do any harm at all (as far as I can tell ). A spray for foliage on mature plants seem to work too. Its not a miracle cure but worth a try.

Last week in my local gardening magazine "The Gardener", the organic/herbal section said that you should soak citrus peel in the water you use to water your seedlings, its somthing in the pith (white bit) that encurages them to germinate. Alot of citrus contains natural Salicylic Acid (asprin) xchris
