Has anyone sown seeds from a packet, say lettuce, and come up with something different?
I have sown a mixed variety and have lovingly tended them, watched them by day and watered by night, have picked some leaves to eat. Lovely.
But.....was very puzzled by some of the plants that were growing. Yesterday I discovered that my strange lettuce leaves are in fact broccoli. How do you figure that one?
Has this happened to anyone else or 'is it me'?
Shrub.

Never thought of that Barbara I've got grass growing also in two cells. Thought at first it was garlic chives as I sowed some of these too but it's definitely grass Odd looking type - I'm leaving it to see how it turns out. Shrub.

I planted some early flowering narcissus in a pot, which didn't flower, so i decided to lift and replace them with something else. While I was working, I couldn't think where the strong oniony smell was coming from. Luckily, I realised they were probably Alliums, which they were, and beautiful when they flowered later. From B&Q

Is it us then or is there a 'cock up' in the seed packeting world? I often wonder, 'how did that get there?'

It is supposed to get short big fat orange fruits but so far they are tall slender green things with a curling tip. It might still straighten and grow fat and orange but it will then be a lot bigger than it is supposed to be. Bigger than the leaves
