Is it me? is it this extra wet weather we've been having? or what? everything in the flower border seems to be extra TALL ;D this year...my hollyhocks are 7 - 8 feet (and still growing) and goodness knows how tall the giant sunflower is going to get! The bedding plants have been very tall too...things like dwarf echium, phacelia, marigolds and the like which, according to the packet, were supposed to reach about 24" have been getting to 30 - 36"...I've had to pull lots of stuff out because it was swamping out other plants...
Plants that have previously 'behaved themselves' are becoming quite unruly....anybody else having a similar experience?

Yep yep yep yep yep everything is lanky and spindley just like I was as a teenager ;D
Have to say my Hollyhocks normally grow to over 7ft and more maybe it's the variety. Had one one year go over 10ft but the same one this years is flowering at the moment and is about 6ft.
Hope my Sunflowers grow like hell for the Compo ;D

my sweet wills are taller than usually and a bit more straggly. But delightful all the same - when I can see them (blinking rain)

Things in my garden have gone barmy as well. Most things are far to lanky except the Tall Sunflowers - they haven't done much at all and yet the Dwarf Variety Sunspot has shot up.
The tallest is my size 155cms - and they are only supposed to grow to 40cms.

I'm not entering any competitions but we planted 4 sunflowers this year (one each) just to see how they'd do. Mine is currently lagging well behind everyone else's (typical !) but Mrs FA's one is about 8½ - 9ft and Cherub's is not far behind.
I've noticed quite a lot of stuff is lanky and spindly this year too.

Talking of tall, I have Poppies and Cosmos that were only supposed to be 3ft and some of them are getting close to 6ft!!! Some of the Cosmos are like trees! This is (was?) the path to my back gate.... .........

Everything in my garden too is becoming rediculously tall, and because I like tall plants to begin with, i am in trouble!. A lily which last year reached knee height, this year it is about 5' But I don't know what to do come Autumn. Should I move plants which are too tall for the front of the border this year, to the back for next year. If they don't grow tall next year, I won't see them. Very glad to see the photo of the Cosmos, makes me feel a whole lot better. That IS freaky!!! But lovely!

Looks so lush nightowl. Lovely. Very lush Shrub, but I wish they'd stop growing and start flowering!!!! And I'm afraid there's a few things that weren't so vigorous, that have died in amongst that lot!
