I just tried writing this and somehow or other managed to totally lose my message so here goes AGAIN ;D!! My greenhouse is fast becomming a breeding ground for all these wee beasties that you get. My chillies have greenfly, my peppers something that looks like little balls/nodules but no creepies yet and my courgettes look covered in whitefly. My religious squashing of them can not now keep up. I have read another thread further down the page about these but as I dont want to use any pesticides/insecticides, would just spraying with soapy water manage to keep on top of them? If so how often would I have to spray my plants? I have visions of great clouds of whitefly just hopping around the greenhouse after doing something like this and then just causing more bother. Ive thought about biological controls but as Im so broke just now this really isn't an option I ask all James friends if they will go out and find me ladybirds, but as they are all 8 year old boys, spider and other urgghhh beasties are more their thing, so no luck there!! Re the courgettes, as its now the summer ( ) would putting them outside out the way of most other veg in the plot, help at all, or would my neighbours be cursing me endlessly for the rest of the year ? Any advice most welcome ;D Julzmm PS I could however sneak the courgettes onto the 18 green at the open in Carsnooty (oops Carnoustie) as its just along the road from me, that would be quite amusing seeing it on the tele!

Oh no Julz sounds like your not having a very good time of it. One of the problems is we are all full up in the GH with plants, mainly due to this crappy weather and we maybe all tend to over grow on plants too One thing I have learned since I've been involved in gardening is keep the GH well ventilated or it becomes a breeding ground for many critters and plant diseases. This was a good thread so I've bumped it back up Natural Remedies for garden pests

Thanks Chuckles for the thread I am going to try the garlic spray, funny thing is I pulled up all my garlic last night and have left it in the greenhouse to dry, theres a couple of dodgy looking ones so at least I am going to have some cloves to use ! ;D I dont have rhubarb though, so maybe will try some of the other plot holders to see if they can give me some leaves. It seems the UK will be under a Harry Potter spell this weekend so maybe I will find a pointy hat and brew up some concoctions and join in the fun! Julz
