I adopt a number of positions when in the garden. They range from sitting (a particular favourite, but a rarity), to standing, also crouching, kneeling and bending. What's your favourite, and why?

I just like to be outside, preferably sat in the sun lounger reading a book not much fear of that so far this year tho Still managed a couple of hours in the garden today, mostly bent over pulling weeds and flowering brocolli up ! Then I set about my sweet peas so that was standing, and sowing seeds so that was standing too, I loved it ! It made a change not to have to dodge the showers. Erm wonder if that was summer in Mexborough this year

I tend to stand in the greenhouse to water cuttings and seedlings (I have got a seat but if I am in the greenhouse I am usually accompanied by a cat so it takes the seat). I tend to kneel on one knee or crouch to weed the flower beds, unless I am crawling underneath something, then it is two knees. I bend over the wheelbarrow to repot plants (I have got a potting tray but it is the favourite place for cats to sleep so it has a cat blanket in it covered by some fleece). I also have several largish trees and a 7ft hedge so I can also be found up a ladder or (if I have to prune the lemon tree) on top of the garage. I have just bought an extendible pole with a lopper on the end, but it does not reach right over the back of the garage so I still have to climb on the roof!!

Here's me !! That's in my dreams! I think kneeling is my favorite,I use a good thick cushion inside a bin liner. Not very pretty but handy if the ground is a bit damp. db

I am forever on my knees. In fact, I find it very difficult to get the dirt out of my kneecaps . Not very attractive!!

As above. I'm always on my knees, but then I am married so better get used to it...
Seriously though, I do prefer kneeling. You can get right in at the ground using a trowel or your hands if necessary (which is more often than not).

I do a lot of kneeling too - but when knees get sore, resort to sitting (if there's room!)

As I have 'dodgy ' knees I either sit or bend over - I may be a big lady but I can touch the ground with my hands while not bending my knees (Does that make sense ? I know what I mean )

Im like Isabella i defonately cant kneel down anymore so i usualy stand up.Iv a lot of things to use in the garden to save bending. Its defonetly no fun whe you have knees that wont work.
