i always bring mine in over winter, and keep them in pots on window-sills, and in the spare room, does anyone else do this, is it necessary with the winters getting milder.

I certainly wouldn't risk leaving mine outside, up here in the wet north, but I bring them through the winter in my greenhouse, with just the heat from a paraffin heater used only if there is frost predicted. I cut them down, remove all the leaves, and keep them dry. Not as bonny as keeping them going in the house, but my house is home to my cactus collection during the winter

I wouldn't risk them either, and even having them on a cool windowsill can cause them to suffer a bit.
