Just been outside and came across a snail going about it's business, merrily making it's way across the garden path completely oblivious to my presence and...I'm sorry...I KILLED IT! Squashed it dead with a satisfying crunch underfoot. Am I a bad person?

Well, I can't bring myself to do it either. Creatures can't help doing what they were made to do, so it seems unfair that they should be killed just because they annoy us. Thankfully frogs toads hedgehogs and birds, do what they were made to do too, so they keep the slippery ones under control. Sorry, but you did ask! And always remember KARMA

I normally chuck them over the fence and into the woodlands at the back, but yesterday as I was raking the leaves off the grass I got one impaled on the prongs of the rake, it was a big bugger too!!

i cant kill them and if i accidently tread on one i feel bad for about .... two seconds i can put them in my recycling bin though. which gets taken by the council every fortnight. they probably go and live on a giant compost heap or they go through a shredder type thing. either way i am responsible but i dont feel bad about it!!!! out of sight out of mind i guess.

I throw all slugs and snails over into next door's chicken run. The chickens eat them so I don't feel bad because technically, I haven't killed them myself ;D

Andy, I don't think you have anything to feel bad about there, because that is the natural food chain. Well done that man I can see why you had a fanclub!

Deeg! You bad man! I have to say, I can't bear to kill them, so I just sling them up the garden towards the fence. I let fate (and prevailing wind conditions) decide! ;D

I normally do chuck them over the fence myself RM hoping they'll have a nice soft landing somewhere on a bed of fluffy pillows, but just occasionally one will boldly come across my path wanting to give it the big one and, well, if he wants some then I'm the one to give it. They are complete wreckers and I hate them.

You can all come and tread on mine anytime and can you please pick up all the slugs too I tend to chuck the snails over the fence and if they hit the path, the birds get an easy feed, can't quite make myself stand on them

I just found a giant Slog ( cross between a slug and a log!) which I couldn't reach to grab and throw over the fence. Didn't really want to grab hold of one that big anyway, and had my secateurs in my hand so.........

Was reading AG this morning and in Christine Walkden's column she states she has no qualms about either treading on the slugs or using her secateurs to chop slugs in half. Nightowl, is there something you want to tell us...?

I just cripple them. Crush them just enough to smash the shell and leave them for the birds. Slugs get their tail end squashed.
