.....sown these Have to say they are magnificent = two large window boxes filled with the most beautiful pastel and vibrant reds, creams and maroons I just sprinkled some seeds into the window boxes and left them, didnt even thin them out - a very cheap successful bit of "gardening" - I shall be growing them again next year to be sure

Grew them last year in the open ground, Jenny - gorgeous. Sowed them the previous autumn and they started flowering in early May - continued until late July, as I remember. I've been slowly replacing annuals with perennials, so there's no space available for them anymore - but if I had a bigger garden would definitely grow them again! ... cheers ...

I've certainly found them again Jenny - they really look lovely don't they. I grew them years ago and then got interested in other things but I did them this year and will be doing them again.

I was about to say 'bless you!' until I saw the pics. Lovely. Do you know what the success rate was for the amount of seed you sowed to how many actually germinated? Just curious...

I don't know about Jenny DG but I just bunged them in as well and really didn't take a lot of notice. However I must have got 75% at least.
It could well have been due to the marvellous April that we all had.

I planted about 150 seeds DG and have about 60 plants but I think should have been more had I thinned them out

Hi jenny, how tall did your godetia get? I got some free seeds too from the same mag. And they're about 18''-2'.

Yes think mine were about that height too - I had to put in some small hidden "fence" stakes to stop them falling over and I grew Bellis Pompette in front of them - big mistake they were not very awe inspiring This year I was on an economy drive in the garden and didnt (well tried to ) buy so many annuals from the garden centre - I grew these Godetia for my window boxes and was well rewarded ;D

The photographs are lovely and deserve to get printed. I have always found Godetia a good standby and I sprinkle them among the borders to fill in gaps. I buy Amateur Gardeng Magazine so will look out for you letter--

I have never sown them before Myacer and in fact I dont think I have ever heard of them before either - please dont tell anyone I said this and I dont buy AG every week so if you see them on the Letters page do tell me Of and a good idea to sprinkle them - they seem to be very hardy and so pretty
