I've just looked up from my lappy and seen Alan T on the TV, The Gardeners Year. I used to watch Gardeners World religiously when it was Geoff Hamilton and then Alan Titchmarsh but I'm afaid I don't watch any now. Not got a clue what gardening programmes there are on these days so thought I'd ask the question what gardening programmes do you all watch and whyOh and what channel, day and time is it on ;D

Gardener's World, if there is nothing else on, and The Beechgrove Garden, if I remember. When it was the darling Geoff, the only man I have ever worshipped, I lived for Friday Nights. The format just doesn't inspire me anymore. Though I like Monty Don, I think it is the producers who have gone wrong somehow.

I agree with weeterrier - Geoff was brill on GW, I don't watch it as much these days, most of the hour specials haven't been of much interest to me. I enjoyed the Big Dig when that was on, shame we can't have more real-life gardens and lotties on telly. I dislike the garden make-over shows, but they no longer seem in vogue as there are none on at the moment And we don't have satellite or cable so if it isn't on the channels available to freeview I won't get to watch anyway. Well judging what's been on Beeb 2 the last couple of weeks they've gone political. Not that I object to politics but the Friday night slot has always been about gardens and what you do with them. There's a place for politics but I dont see it on Friday nights when GW has always been about a garden and what you do with it. Sorry that's a bit muddled. The emphasis seems to have switched from my garden to world politics. I get my politics from other sources, Friday nights are usually my escape from some such. Sorry, but I do need an escape, especially on a Friday night. Sorry Chuckles, bit of rant there.

I you had asked me this a couple of years ago I would have probably said Ground Force as I liked watching the transformations, I would have probably even said that I would have loved them to come and sort out my garden.
Then I moved house last year and got a big garden, cleared all the weeds out and got bitten. By the gardening bug. Seriously bitten in fact!! I am know really enjoying watching other gardening programmes (still have a couple of AT's gardeners year Sky+'d) that show a lot more about the plants rather than decking etc.

I used to watch GW when AT was presenting but have lost interest since. Berryfields & Co just doesn't do it for me Did enjoy the coverage of Chelsea though.

Glad it is not just me who can't be bothered with G W now, I did enjoy the Kew programmes & a few repeats of A T , thought the coverage of Tatton was rubbish, there was so much more to see there. I would enjoy more plant info ideas of what would go where, pictures, planting & return visits to see how it develops & survives or not, also no music....

i prefer programmes that concentrate on gardens and plantsmore than the instant makeover that seems to be the norm now. geoff hamilton was good, .....smiths world of flowers, can't remember his first name, used to pick on a flower family for each programme. i havn't seen that one for quite a few years now.

Argh what did the sylists do to Christine Jlottie I love her the way she is I missed all these new progs - cant work the video I really wouldn't have recognised her Jenny, she had longer wavy hair, "Marjorie Proops" glasses, make up with red lipstick and she was wearing a cream jumper that fitted her

Jlottie I thought you were referring to Christine in her new programmes when you said the make up artists had got at her
In fact think you saw the Gardeners World programme taken in 1992 - she has improved since then ;D
