Greenfly, greenfly everywhere ! My Lupins have been mullered ! Ive never seen so many this year. What causing it ? White fly as well, all turning my plants black. I hope this would spread any nast virus ! Mr G

I have no idea MrG, but it sounds awful. Have you tried any sprays. You could try washing up liquid - 1 part to 10 parts of water. I used this on my gooseberry and it worked. Or you could try a proprietry brand of pesticide. Sure someone can recommend a good one.

I squash them if I get them on my roses, not really had a problem with them this year though.
The washing up liquid works Mr G or you could try the Garlic water. A clove crushed and popped in a sprayer of water, let it infuse for a while and then just top it up with water as required, also more cloves as it weakens.
Shame really it's normally the slugs and snails that have the Lupins.

Are they those huge, grey lupin aphids? If so they don't live on other things, could you cut the lupins down now??

my sweetpeas were covered as well, then along came a little wren and she ate hundreds of them, now she comes every morning and every evening, i'd give her a medal if i could ;D

Are they those huge, grey lupin aphids? If so they don't live on other things, could you cut the lupins down now?? I had those on my Lupins one year, the blooms were encrusted with them, almost to the extent that I felt quite squeamish. Horrible blighters. Almost put me off growing lupins.

Thanks for the replies. Yes they are the big green ones but there are also loads of white fly. If i cut them back now would they be ok for next year ?

Hi, Well i chopped then today. You would beleive the green and white fly. Are you sure these will be ok for next year ?? The bugs were starting to turn them brown and i was worried about virus etc... Will they be ok ?? Mr G
