I have just walked my daughters friend home....maybe half a mile away and i walked past a garden i have walked past a thousand times before.
Growing in the front garden as a 10' high standard tree was a lemon tree....complete with some of the most enormous lemons i've ever seen....most of them just rotting on the ground like windfall apples.
I stood there for about a minute totally agog. This tree had been there for some years. But i never expected them to be hardy.
Anyone ever seen anything like it....i'll try to get photos.
Andy

That's incredible Andy, specially with the weather we've had this "summer"!!! I know last summer someone in the south had fruit on a Grapefruit tree, but last year was exceptional. Love to see a photo of it.

Amazing! My mum and dad have a lemon plant and it's doing well but is indoors! I do hope you can get a photo. What a waste of fruit though

Mum and dad have three lemons on their tree - well green lemons anyway. They water it with a little bit of room temperature water from the kettle every day, but don't allow it to sit in the water. They use special "lemon food" and it's in a bright room but not in direct sunlight. Does that help at all?

I bought my lemon tree in Kingston Market laxst year for £6.00 and I had lemons lst year. The tree has 2 lemons at the moment. I keep it on the patio in Summer and bring it in before the frosts. I musgt say I am v ery bad ab out feeding it although I do have winter and summer food I hardly bother. The lemons look quite healthy. I took this photo about 2 weks ago. PJ

Humphmmm, no lemons on my tree and I treat it better than I treat my kids ! Wonder where I'm going wrong But look where you are KL!!!! I've only been to Yorkshire once. It's very beautiful but soooo COLD!! I drove up from here on a gorgeous warm June day, but it was still January in Yorkshire, and I hadn't packed any thick jumpers and only had a thin jacket. I froze my a**e off!!!!
