This year I've used nemaslug for the first time with wonderful results...thing is...should I stop now for a while? I have only seen the occasional ill-looking s**glet in the garden since March and would like to keep it that way (my baby spring cabbages need protection)...I seem to recall that s**gs and s***ls (YUK) get amorous in the autumn and lay their eggs......if so should I continue to attack with the (rather expensive) nemaslug?

I don't know really, Cheery, dearie but I personally would continue while the weather is so mild and sunny. Once the real wet and cold weather starts I would imagine that the active ingredients would be less effective as the temperature drops....I dunno though - just guessing!

As 4P says, I would carry on. If we get a mild winter they'll still be out munching!

Hi Snowowl, Nemaslug is the trade name for a powder containing zillions of teeny tiny parasites that is mixed with water and watered onto your borders/veg patch. I think I'm right in saying that the nematodes bury into the slugs and kill them. There are all sorts of different nematodes for different pests.... hang on, I'll find you a link...... Here y'are.... www.nemasysinfo.com/HTH. Oh and Cheery, I don't see why not, as long as it's warm enough and you have the funds of course, it will be interesting to hear how many S&S you get next year. ;D

Thanks skarloey i have heard of nematodes but i thought nemaslug was something differant it sounds very interesting though and the vine weeval one to. Its good to hear CPB has used them with good results i will get some to water round my hostas for next year although it says to use it now to kill overwintering slugs and reduce the population for next year.
