They seem to be! Tomorrow they've got to finish the side wall, and line the inside with breeze blocks (or whatever they do!) because the walls are thicker than that. You can see where the door will be though.
I'll probably have to wait about a month for the windows and roof to be fitted though Andy - I doubt it will all be plain sailing!!! ;D

My OH did ours...what a hero ( he's not a builder, just a good DIY-er) I'm looking forward to the pics when it's all done...are you having a grand opening?

Nice pics, Plocket - thanks for sharing! I'm very impressed at the progress, HOWEVER, I CAN'T BELIEVE you didn't let Little Plocket put a handprint in, especially as it will be covered by tiles so won't offend you by being permanently visible...
My Dad and I did some work on the steps down theor garden and created a built-in cold frame (after considerable persuasion from me) in 1976, and we marked one of the concrete bits with our initials and the date, and it still makes me smile whenever I see it! And also, when I was DECIDEDLY pregnant, we went to Asda and they were re-edging the car park and just laying a layer of cement. I went up to them and asked if I could step in it as I'd always wanted to, and they said yes! So my (bare) footprints were in the border of the car park until they re-did it last year! These things need doing, IMHO, so chill a bit and let her make a bit of history!

I think it's a bit late to chill Margi! The cement is dry now apparently, and was when LP got home from school. Sigh Ok your stories have persuaded me: I'll ask them if there's a bit of cement or something she can make her mark on then!!! ;D

Whats the roof going to be like Plocket? Is it going to be extended from the one you have or is it going to be a flat roof? Next question...which clem will you grow around it ?

The roof is a pitched roof to match with the roof of the house. It worked out more expensive but I think it will look better than a flat roof. I had a look around at the other houses the same as ours in the area and although the flat roofs are nice I think the pitched roof is the best for us.
I've already got my pot of Sunset and Silver Moon which will go up it, along with two of the roses OH bought for our anniversary - goodness me do you really think I haven't thought about that!!!!! ;D
I need to work out house numbers too as we will lose the one we have at the moment. I can't decide where to put the number until the porch is built, but as the door is glass it can't go on there. I've also got to choose flooring and a light fitting.

I'm having a pitched roof too Plocket, my bay window sticks out from the house and currently has a naff flat roof which thankfully hasn't leaked yet, but as the window is going in at the same time as the porch its all getting a pitched roof! I'm having a solid piece of slate as the floor, which I got from reclamation...I believe it used to be the "bed" of a snooker table ;D It should look fab!
I`ve also picked the widest windowsill they make for inside, as I have a ton of plants to overwinter.......

It certainly sounds fab! Lucky you with the slate - I haven't got many reclaim places near me but when I travel further afield I never find anything. Our front window is slightly bayed (is that a word? ) but has a really deep wooden windowsill making the wall straight across under neath it. It's brilliant for plants - and the cat!!! Sensible you getting a deep windowsill yourself!!! I bet you are really excited about the work!

Its been finalised now, Plocket and seems less of a plan, more of a project, if that makes sense, and will really look gorgeous, Im convinced! I have a central heating engineer to chase up now, and a man to fit windows in the loft, thats all today ...busy, busy! Watching your progress, I have less doubt it will all be done for chrimbo.

Hello Plocket There's a reclaim place not far from me, I don't know what it's like as I haven't got around to inspecting it yet. Let me know if you'd like the address. PG
