Well, Chuckles Noonoo old chum, The main reason I got my membership was to get to the Members only day at Chelsea thinking it would be less of a squeeze and to meet a really nice person I met on the boards!!!! WHAT A WASTE OF £44!!!!!!!!!! Only joking GH. It was in fact one of the nicest days out I've had in a long while!! But, I haven't made use of the free entrance to some of the gardens which is criminal although if you enjoy the free magazine that plops through the door every month then that in itself is worth the £44. I also joined the seed share, 20 packets of seed for £10 (and have yet to sow all the seed) and sent GH half of them. I now have more than 20 plants in the garden which I raised and will sow more in the spring. If you use it and enjoy it Chuckynoo, then it's not wasted. ;D

I have an RHS membership (but after reading Skarloeys post I might not renew it next year .....we did have a lovely day though ;D) I got mine so I could go to Chelsea on the day after the Queen ;D, and because another friend had told me so much about it......I just had to go for myself.......I think that was 5 years ago I have been to RHS Harlow Carr for free a few times and also to a couple of grdens which are near to me (also free to members). I like the magazine too - once you steer your brain away from all the adverts for seriously expensive greenhouses and 'garden rooms', also known as sheds ;D. I think the magazine is abit more 'grown up' than ones you buy in WH Smith. You haven't wasted your money Chuckles ;D

I know what you mean Skarloey I spent £20 on a bus trip to York We love you really GH Basically I thought the mag would make a change from the very odd GW I buy these days and as the membership fee was cheaper than buying the 12 mags I though go for it. Free/cheaper entry to gardens and shows sounded good too. Not something I've done a lot of before but I'm sure I can tempt one of my mates that drives to go ;D

I don't think I have got my money's worth, but then that is my own fault
The magazine is a bit "dry" but some interesting content nonetheless

I have been a member for quite a while now. I enjoy the magazines & think they have become much more readable recently. Luckily I live near Wisley & visit perhaps once a month but have also been to the 3 other Rhs gardens whilst travelling around. I can also get to the London flower shows easily plus members tickets for Chelsea & Hampton Court. I have used the advisory service a couple of times which was helpful.
I am perhaps luckier than many people at being able to make such alot of use of my membership but you must also remember that the RHS is a charity & does a great deal of work for horticulture so you shouldn't always just think of the value that you get personally for the membership fee.
Enjoy your membership!

I belong to the wonderful RHS Schools Scheme. I get the magazine free because of it! Which is brilliant. I used to look at it with a eye to cutting it up and using the stuff in it as a resource file but I can't do it...it's such a lovely magazine.......

So 4P you must have a heap of Mags with all those interesting articles and pics in like me ;D Mine all got taken to the local Doctors surgery a few months ago. Have been looking at the list of gardens in and around my area and there are a few Barnsdale for one ;D I went to the GC once years ago but begrudged paying to go in the gardens, so didn't . Well I may just have a couple of visits when I get my RHS entry. So far I can see I'm going to reep benefits

I think the magazine is a bit heavy... especially when you've got a bag full of them to deliver ;D
If I could afford it, I'd join it just for the free entry and other lil perks you get as a member. I don't think it's wasted.

I joined this year too CBB. The highlight of the year so far was getting into Wisley and Barnsdale 'free'...and amidst the pouring rain at the Malvern Spring Show being able to swan into the RHS members only marquee and sit in the warm and dry sipping a lovely cuppa!

Hi, Does anyone find their site very slow to access? I have been trying to register my membership since 07:45 Sara Morning Sara, I had problem when I first went on the RHS site as a new member with my thingy number, it said something about a problem and it had been reported to whoever. Thinking I'd done somthing wrong I tried to register/activate my mebership again and it told me you are already registered. I left it a day and got in OK after that.
