Hi all ... found this as a self-sown seedling in the garden last year; no idea what it is. It's been moved around a couple of times as it's grown ... sorry for the awful pic, hopefully it's still clear enough to identify ... cheers ...

Hi WT - I've just done a google for privet, and no, I don't think it is: the flowers are different, and privet leaves seem to be more lance-shaped, whereas these are rounder ... cheers ...

Could be Abelia x Grandiflora or Philadelphus microphyllus.....need better pic really but i'd opt for the Abelia because of the glossy leaves.
Are the flowers slightly scented ?

They're lovely shrubs CC...get to about 10' over time (10 years) and have loads of scented flowers in late summer. I have a big group of them at work and they usually attract the hummingbird hawkmoths.

Just wondering if Andy (or anyone else) can identify this...... I posted it earlier on the Red Thread and it's caught Plockets eye for her hot bed!! I think it looks abit like a Persicaria.

Nope....but it's bloody lovely though. Not a variety of polygonum is it (big stab in the dark really)

Yes, it does look a lot like Persicaria. The leaves of that turn red in dry conditions.
