I couldn't resist buying (four) Cyclamen, from our Local market stall. There were no cultural instructions or name labels with them.-hence being very reasonable. But were they a bargain? I would like to plant them out with some Spring bulbs in my little plot which is very sheltered and doesn't get much sun but although damp it is well drained. Could anyone advise me on this please?

I think they like a quite shady spot but they are hardy. They are woodland type plants and will naturalise well if planted in the ground.

LNG, Many, many thanks for your reply-- The conditions you describe are ideal for this 'patch' and I feel much better now I know I haven't wasted my money.-Bigs

Thanks Isabella, I did manage to get on that link before I posted here but wasn't any wiser. You have helped me alot by letting me know that the ones that are selling now are for Autumn planting so I guess that is what I have bought. They are so pretty--I couldn't resist them-- I will plant them out and hope that the first frosts dont get at them!!--Will let you konw if they survive or not! Bigs

I have a large ceramic tub in our outside porch and I have planted it with Heathers, Cyclamen and some little yellow Asters. They really do look lovely. I should have thought about putting some spring bulbs in but if I am very careful I may manage to squeeze a few between the plants.

This is one of the Cyclamen I have bought-It is not a very clear photograph but the best I could do. It is still in the Pot before planting out.

Does or has anyone ever hardened off an indoor/houseplant Cyclamen I had a Hydrangea that was meant to be an indoor one and it now lives out in a large pot all year. Just curious really because I bought two the other day and I never manage to keep them once they have finished flowering, could they be kept in an unheated GH.
