I have been digging in MssK's garden again and found this plant that looks a bit like a bramble but has different leaves. Also some were eaten but the four pics should give a good indication. Has any one got a clue as to what it might be? As you see it also has the habit om making new plants on old underground stems or roots. Is it a weed or something nice? Help.

Certainly looks bramble like....could it be an ornamental bramble such as rubus cockburnianum which have white stems in winter and look like they're covered in mildew !!!

I have no idea Dutchy - I always thought it was a bramble variety. I have got it in the garden a bit because of the neighbour and it is terrible stuff. If you are pulling it out the root nearly always breaks.

I've seen that in a neighbour's garden. I always thought it to be a variety of bramble too. I know hers isn't cockburnianus, because it doesn't have the white stems. It certainly is like a bramble in every respect except the shape of the leaves.

I have been googling to try and find it but still nothing. It has not got white stems so that one is out. It does not seem to be a thug as I only found four plants real close together. I suppose it was one but the dose of glyphosate it got this spring might have caused that. The farmer sort of sprayed around the shrubs... sort of, so now things get leaves that were not visible weeks ago. More research then. I thought maybe Rubus spectabilis but that seems to be almost thornless and this one is not.

Rubus idaeus is another contestant. Still not sure what it is. Could it be anything else than a Rubus? Once I an exclude it being anything else than Rubus it will make the search easier.

i've just been out to check on the leaves of my rubus spectabilis, the leaves look different so I think you can count that variety out

Sorry that I cannot help but I am very interested to find out just what the plant is. Should you run out of enough examples please do not hesitate to ask for more. My dear the stuff is awful.

Very interesting, it sorta looks familiar....I have looked in my RHS book. Is it a Logan berry?? The seed dropped by a bird perhaps?? Let us know what it is...

Other than finding a Loganberry bathbomb which was a nice surprice. It is not that, the leaves are far more pointy (bit like your lovely swirly canabis but it is not that either )

What other fruit shrubs are there that look like Bramble or Raspberry or Loganberry?
