I don't want to cause a riot or get into favourite or not so favourite TV presenters but what content would you like to see on gardening TV. We have had all the make overs and instant gardens that I can take.

Just something that relates to ordinary people would be great! Gardening on a limited budget? How to deal with pests and diseases! What is worth growing in the average garden and what it a real challenge!! (and pitfalls to avoid) x Tig

I'd rather see them concentrate on the use of plants more rather than decking, pergolas and flippin bubbly water features.
Most of these "design" programmes....which i suppose was started by groundforce, spend 4/5ths of the programme on construction and then it's "oh i suppose we better chuck a few grasses in"

Agree with you all! Good, basic advice with some folk-lore thrown in as to how plants got their names, what you can do with them etc. Nothing fancy!!

I'd like to see what ordinary people with ordinary gardens do with an ordinary budget. Something that we can all get ideas from. Within that, there could be advice about techniques and problems. I never thought I'd hear myself say this, because it used to be pedestrian in comparison to Gardeners World, but Beechgrove Garden has a pretty good balance.

There seems to be pretty much of a consensus here, and I'd agree with everything that's been said. Some of the programmes may actually put newbie gardeners off if they don't have rolling acres and a budget to match!! I really enjoyed Alan Titschmarsh's 'How to be a Gardener' (both the programme and the book) - it was about how to have an ordinary garden on an ordinary budget. Would be great to have more of that type of programme ;D ... cheers ...

yes more about propagation, instead of buying all new, and where to find seeds in plants, and that kind of thing, when i showed my friend aquilega seeds she was amazed, and said i would'nt have known where to look. so what some of us see as obvious, some think is magic.

Perhaps those still on the beeb site should tell them. We might get more how to be a gardener like programs then.
