Now that table would look good in your garden too Shrub OH always worries when I start asking him to bring spare bits of wood and things home from jobs. I'm not safe with a saw and battery screw driver in my hand and when I get the hammer and nails out I'm a mad woman and I don't care ;D

;D Does cutting down Leylandii into fence posts count? I also asked a neighbour who works in the building/construction world for some of those big scaffolding planks in order to make a bench at MssK's. No material has arrived yet.

WOW Amo thats fab. DUTCHY, JLOTTIE look at this ;D we have another DIYer, well OH anyway. Amo if you look back on here there is a fab table you could get him to to too. Apart from blowing like mad it's just too slippery out there and the lawn is starting to suffer. Instead, OH potered in the garage and made me a nice two seater bench for an area I've been working on using some leftovers from other DIY jobs!!! I'm over the moon!

Thank you Chuckles. OH is very pleased with himself too! It was a little bit of a team effort. I told him what I wanted, and he got on with it. With a little supervision of course. ;D Like table!!! Like more plans.... (Sound of whirring mouse going to other screen to look through other projects.)

Thought you'd like this thread Amo ;D I'm still waiting for OH to get me some long screws and I'll be busying away making a table like Dutchy did. I'm not allowed OH's shed it's in our neighbours yard, I wonder what he has in there sometimes

You're probally better off not knowing!!! OH used 6 inch normal screws on the bench and it wobbled a bit, he changed them for 4 inch (or 7 x 100) timber drive screws (the ones you need a socket for the head) and it, for want of a better expression, clenched itself!! Solid as a rock now. He sometimes moans, bless him, that I can't pass a garden centre without buying half the stock. It's a totally different story if we're in a DIY store though. Baskets of screws and blolts, fixings and glues. He could almost start a store himself.

Oooh now that is a nice bench Amo. Give your OH a big pat on the shoulder. My old bench is still fine but I need to think about a simple, simpler than yours, bench at MssK. One that can stay outside and withstand rain, sleet, sunshine and thieves. Hence the simple. I checked out the Prieuré D'Orsan gardens in France. They do miracles with old branches building about every structure in the garden out of it. Still thinking.
p.s. can we get a photo of the backside. How did he fasten the back to the seat?

The arms are fixed like the legs with 2 of the screws and the back is just the same as the seat. If you blow it up you can see a little better. It's the simplest design ever! Honest.

Ah but you let your OH make it for you Got it understand how it is done. Just thought the back might need extra bits for strengthening.
