Hi all, this gardening bug has really got me ;D I'not suffering from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) but ... er .... GWD (Garden Withdrawal Disorder, not to be confused with a well-known fabulous message board) ;D Have done all the cutting down, mulching etc. I can, and now there's nothing for me to do in the garden but play with the mini-GH, as a result of which the cuttings and seedlings are probably going to die of kindness Pleasse, please let spring come quickly so I can pottering again ... cheers ...

Garden Withdrawal Disorder - marvellous what a perfect description.
I haven't had anything to do in the garden for over a month now and probably won't until the end of Feb/beginning of March - just depends on the winter we end up having.
I have everything in the mini GH wrapped in fleece and I look a couple of times and week and that is it really. I have just gone through my seed box and was contemplating doing a list of all the stuff I intend sowing but to be honest I can't be bothered - I would rather just start sowing them all.
I know how you feel CC.....

Love it CC Garden Withdrawal Disorder ;D Yes I get a touch of GWD too I find myself longing to get on and get tempted to do things I shouldn't, things in the garden that is The garden chat on the alternative GWD keeps me going to a degree reading what everyone else is up to and the planning for next year. I find myself looking at the pots of plants I've grown for next year, I know they look nothing much now but I look at the labels and imagine them in thier full glory in the garden. All the bits I have in the GH and Poly to look after and all the seeds I've got to sow come spring will I have room. Seeing the tips of bulbs poking through in the garden and in tubs makes me realise spring is really just around the corner and we'll all be busy busy busy again before long. The 2008 GWD Seed Trail is keeping me focused atm decisions decisions on what to do This year in the garden was a bit of wash out to say the least and hopefully 2008 will better. Roll on spring is what I say and I'm raring to go ;D

Andy you are going to be busy. I haven't done much in the garden for several weeks now. There are loads of things to do but I never seem to have the time when I have the inclination, if you see what I mean! I did go out today and pot up the tulip bulbs that I never found a place in the garden for. What did I get for my trouble? Frozen fingers, Grrr that compost was cold!!! One good thing tho' was that I went behind the G/H to get some water from the butt and found my pot of 5 Hyacinths (prepared) which I'd forgotten about!!. They are shooting nicely and are now in transition in the G/H. I'll bring them in next W/E and hopefully they'll just be starting to flower by Christmas. If not, hey, who cares, they'll brighten the January days for me!!

Andy you are so lucky really and I'm quite envious. So much so I'm off up the garden to find something to do while there is a little bit of sun out

Very good CC! I envy you having nothing much to do out there though...I'm like Andy - my garden is a disgrace but I just don't have time to get out and do anything.....I have to: - build fences and put them round the new bit in my veggie garden, - erm... dig over and weed my entire veggie garden, - dig over, weed and replant my entire flower garden, - dig and weed my PT - try and sow my broad beans sometime in pots - plant garlic - this is the first time ever I haven't got any in during the Autumn - get the path done in the flower garden (still not finished...) so I have a decent lay out established finally.. - move Mum's fruit patch into mine (she's given up, 80 this year, and reckons I can look after it better ) Oh dear, I'm knackered just reading it.......... Still it would be nice to have a chance to start it all this holiday....... ;D

GWD I know what you mean...I have been going out, looking for work, cause I need my daily dose of garden. Its amazing what you can find though, then suddenly you are busy again. My paths have gone very green, the birds have dropped lots of sunflower seeds everywhere. The apples need pruning, the perennials trimming. The manure needs spreading out a bit better. and so it goes on....it great!

Flowersfriend you are sooooooooooooooo right I guess it's just the lack of sunshine that causes us to lose the plot a little at this time of year. I could certainly list a few similar jobs like you and 4P have done

I haven't been able to do any gardening since the middle of October, so I have got serious withdrawal symptoms. Plus my garden is looking very untidy. In some ways though, I am glad this forced withdrawal has happened at this time of the year rather than in the spring and summer. It would be very hard not being able to garden then. Hopefully I will be able to get back into the garden in a few weeks.

Hi Cleaninglady. You can do a bit of gardening by going through the seed catalogues, ordering seeds and who knows when you are up and running again you can start the physical bit of gardening again. I hope that will be soon.
I still have to do 9 conifers in at MssK's and build a fence from the stumps. And the paths are covered in weeds and new little weedlets are poking their heads up. But today I cut back two stumped willows and one hazel and got rid of perennial debris in my own garden. It is lovely to still be able to do so much. Somehow it is as if it won't stop if only because indoor sowing starts soon. The marking of the new growing season.

Well I have not been down to my allotment for nearly four weeks, due to a combination of inclement weather and poor health, so really enjoyed the opportunity to get there today. Not a lot to do this time of year, the plot is all dug, so I just pottered about, removing rogue brambles etc and putting rubbish onto a bonfire pile. An enjoyable few hours fresh air
