Hello, I don't have a photo unfortunately but on Saturday we were stunned to see a beautiful male pheasant peering through the french doors at us. It then proceeded to pad around the garden for most of the day. Didn't see it at all on Sunday but we heard it clucking (if thats what they do) so it was still around. I don't know whats happened to it now though. It was such a nice sight, didn't let the cat out though

Lovely! I like pheasants - they are dozy but so attractive!

I agree. I think we ought to ease up on these games as they are likely to turn off visitors.
Maybe limit playing them to only 30 minutes at a time?

Not a visitor to my garden but a "bird" story from this week. Yesterday, as one of my colleagues drove into the car park at work a sparrowhawk brought down a pigeon right next to the gate. She came in and told us about it so I went and had a look. There were feathers everywhere and there on the grass was the hawk, tearing away at the pigeon. I stood about 5ft away from it for a good 20 seconds and it only flew off when I tried to get a picture on my phone.
What an absolutely beautiful bird ! When I went back about an hour later, the pigeon carcass had gone so I think it must have come back for it after I went back to my desk.

Oooooooooooh we had a pheasant in the garden on bonfire night. The cat was out and thought he'd try and sneak up on it. When he made a run for it, the pheasant flew off squawking and the cat looked really worried wondering what he'd done. Stoopid animal.
I got a photo but it's from too far away, just looks like a brown blob on the garden.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand mum took some photos of a load of pheasants in the field at the back of the house (which starts about 3m away from the patio doors). So if I can get that scanned I'll post a pic.

old Freddie the pheasant has re-appeared today - he's been wandering along the road - well on the pavement actually. Poor little thing is obviously lost.

We have loads on besides the roads on the way up to my parent's house because they have the shooting season type thing up there. Unfortunately, a lot of them end up flat after losing an argument with a car....
