Back last spring I asked about a new veg plot I was thinking about. Today I've finally got round to creating it. It's only 12x6 feet, but I have marked it out, stripped the turf and double dug it. The problem now is that just about every part of me is aching! I think that some seed ordering therapy (or possibly beer) is in order. For those who followed my earlier thread, the first photo was taken from the East and the last is almost facing due South. I've been checking the sun over the summer (not very often of course!) and I think most of the bed will get enough. Roll on the spring! Steve

This is already the second veg patch, Shrubrose! ;D Here's the old one (looking a bit tatty, but it was November) As for what I'm going to plant... Beetroot, Celery, Celeriac, Broad Beans, Peas, Shallots, Parsnips, Chard, Leeks... And there will potatoes and tomatoes and chillies in containers... And there are herbs on the patio... But all suggestions gratefully received! S

Well done Steve! ( beer is cheaper and more fun than therapy) That GH of yours will overflow before you can plant all out ;D I would love to get updates as I am a veg virgin and starting my own veg-stravaganza. I have sowed the first broad beans indoors and once they grow I will transport them to the cold frame. It's all new to me and so thrilling. And I am bound to make quite some mistakes

There you go then Steve. I'm psychic, in reverse!!!! ;D
Why dont you try some cabbage as well? - dead easy and absolutely gorgeous. You see them sitting there, getting bigger by the week and the anticipation (as with all veg.) is huge and the eating even better. ;D

Steve Brilliant Steve, top effort I reckon a couple of beers whilst doing the seed ordering is definately on the agenda ;D and well deserved too. Now you've got veg bed 2 well under way I reckon you should start a thread in here with those fab photo's My Garden/Allotment and keep us all up to date with progress

Nice one Steve ;D watch out though, as the aching will be worse tomorrow What are you going to do with the turf ? its just that if you have room to make a pile (green surface to green surface) and can leave it till next year you will end up with some lovely loam

Well done Steve and I look forward to seeing it full of veg.
I am happy to say that I let my son do all the digging for me these days, and I have also learnt not to tell him in advance that some needs doing!!

That looks brilliant Steve. It's what we're planning on doing, although I think our plots will be a bit narrower. Lovely photos.
