What's the best way to hold fleece together once it's been wrapped round a plant?

I use plastic clothes pegs - I have a box of old ones just for the garden. They are useful for loads of things.

Thanks for the replies - hadn't thought of using clothes pegs RF - I'll use some along with some string.

I use them too but sometimes sweet pea ties, those wire rings, they hold the fleece right onto a twig that wont be disciplined.

I use these: www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=plant+warming+jackets- much less effort, or maybe I'm just being lazy To compound the laziness, I put them the other way up from the way that's illustrated - with the top of the jacket under my pots. That way, if it's warm I can open them and roll them down the plants and if it's cold I can roll them up the plants and pull the drawstring over the top & I don't have to keep putting them on & taking them off when the weather changes. (Obviously you can't use this method for things planted in the ground though ) I think they are cheaper in my local GC than they are on Amazon.

Thanks for the link Juliet - I'll look out for some at my local GC - much easier to use than fighting with fleece on a windy day too, no doubt. ;D

It is, yes - and if you have small pots which need to be kept warm, you can put several in one jacket & fill in the spaces between them with polystyrene squiggles or bubble wrap.

Here's my Musa Basjoo wrapped up atm to protect it...there's a chicken-wire cage around the stem, packed loosely with straw, then the fleece bag is wrapped round that and secured with garden twine...the upside-down tray on top is to keep the water out. obviously this was BEFORE we picked up the leaves fallen from the trees behind the garden
