Hi Dr.Bill No I haven't tried it, I did look at something similar last year but funds were a bit of a problem. However my friend has almost completed a book keeping course (which is done at home) and throughly enjoyed it. It did take her longer than a year because she had young children, but with each assignment she sent in she did very well. All she needs to do now is the final exam. I'm sure everything will be fine and you will enjoy it as much as my friend enjoyed her course. and let us know how your doing.

B*****R. "The Garden" arrived today - with an offer of £100 off the cost of the course for RHS members Oh well, never mind. The course materials arrived yesterday. I have had a quick flip through and I think I will enjoy it, but it is going to take a long time. No rush though.

Good luck with it, Dr Bill.
I'm just bookmarking this thread now so I don't forget to keep checking it for updates! - would be interested to hear how you get on, as I'm thinking of doing a garden design course once we've got moving house out of the way.

OK, now the CORRECT materials have arrived!!
The college sent me the manuals for their Diploma in Garden Design course which is much more involved and business orientated. My course concentrates on the planting, which is what I want.
Just in the process of a quick read through - manual one is mostly plants through history and the plant hunters and collectors. Manual two is plant scence and maagement

Only just caught up with this thread, sounds good DrB. I wish I had your commitment to do something like that, I'm a bit of a lazy Chuckles when it comes to putting in lots of effort to study something. Sad I know but thats me, not academic at all. Is that the right word See I'm a NooNoo ;D

Not really made a proper start yet. I have read through the manual to get a taste of the course but I really need to get down to it properly

I guess that's the downside of a do your own pace course too! Not being pushed!! I'm sure you'll get cracking soon and I hope you will keep us informed. ;D
