As today ( 3rd Monday in January ) is officially the most miserable day of the year ( apparently we are at our saddest because Xmas and New Yr frivolities have finished, the weather is miserable, our credit card statements have come through and we have broken our NY resolutions!!), it can only get better!! With this in mind - what garden tasks / projects are you looking forward to beginning? What does spring hold for you, gardenwise?

I don't know about tasks but I'm looking forward to having winter still - we need a bit of cold weather to kill off some of the bugs! Then I'm looking forward to spring and my beloved clematis starting to flower. I'm also looking forward to some lovely sunny weather so I can put my "new" (ie, so far unused) patio furniture out in the garden and enjoy it at long last. I got it in October!!! And seeing more of my clematis flower. Oh and pruning - I love pruning my clems ;D

I am looking forward to getting my hands dirty again - I haven't worked in the garden since November when we finished the garden for the winter, which we haven't had up to now ....only monsoon season as in the UK.
I planted loads of wild tulip bulbs in autumn and I am so looking forward to seeing them -. that is if they haven't rotted!! Then I can prune the roses, clems and start all my seeds and oooooo - heaven....

Ordering my plug plants for the summer - and knowing once and for all that our allotment site is not to be built on! and whether we will ever get a long-promised water supply!

I would like a nice cold spell first (crisp, dry and bright).
Then seeing the bulbs come up (especially the bluebells), being able to really get cracking on the various seeds that need to be sown and seeing the different plants etc coming back to life.

I'm in danger of overwhelming myself!! I haven't done much in the garden since October, due to family circumstances and persistant rain!!! However, I have many ( too many??!!) plans and don't know where to begin!!!! Meanwhile, everything is growing, is it too late to cut back and divide perennials? Can I move a 6' phormium which has become unstable with the wind? Will my garden ever look good again?? I'm looking forward to a DRY, warm spring - any hope???

Not too late to do your perennials, and I often move things at the wrong time, so I'd do anything you want to do. Phormiums are pretty much brutes anyway. ;D I'm looking forward to an hour of no rain.

Looking forward to sitting out on the patio with the smell of night scented stock and barbeques filling the air....with a few mates round and a couple of cold beers.
But that's 6 months away so in the meantime, i'm looking forward to finnishing potting up my begonia tubers, sowing some petunia seeds and hopefully.....about 6 feet of snow so we can go and play down the park with the dog and the kids ;D

I'm looking forward to spending some quality time in the garden this year and my 2nd veg year. I'm ithching to see how the flower borders look this year after having a mad planting frenzie last year, I bunged in loads of stuff that I'd had in pots lurking about. Did I put them in the right place, Mmmm time will tell. Also looking forward to planting what I've grown from seed too.
Most of all I'm looking forward to seeing how my new project in the garden turns out, I'm hoping it will be completed within the next 4-5 weeks.

I'm looking forward to re-jigging the garden again...we have decided to change the veg patch..I plan to grow veg I've never tried before this year, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how they turn out. In spring I'm always optimistic about the garden...and hopefully with the veggie bed re-hashed we'll have a more successful year ;D
I'm so longing to sit in the garden with a cuppa at breakfast time in the early summer, listening to the wren that has serenaded us for years now...(prolly a succession of wrens..)....perfick.
