We are having a charity day at work in aid of Marie Curie and we are all supposed to go to work in fancy dress My problem is that I don't know what to go as! Last time I went as 'The Fairy Grandmother' ;D As I work in the garden centre it can't be anything too flimsy - I will be fighting with Christmas trees for customers most of the time! Last time I wore my work trousers with a petalled skirt made of the fabric you sometimes get as a decoration - looks a bit like the fleece used as frost protection I edged the neckline and sleeves with iridescent tinsel, wore some fairy wings and a tiara covered with the same tinsel! Has anyone got any ideas ,please - remember that I am an oap and a bit on the large size o.k.o.k a lot on the large size

A fairy isn't a good idea... you never know where someone will think of shoving a christmas tree!
How about an elf?

If you could find a way of giving yourself an all-over green glow you could go as one of the Sellafield children from the Ready-Brek adverts

Kryptonite will do it if you can get any. It's completely harmless to everyone except Superman (and he lives in America)

You could go as a herbaceous border. Dress all in brown and say you've cut the tops off all the herbaceous perennials so all you can see is the soil !!!

How about.....
A Snowman/Woman a long white shirt or top or nightie over your work trousers with a big black belt, a red or green, any colour wooly hat decorated with some xmas tat, a scarf etc.......
Or staple tinsel and other decs to your uniform and be a christmas decoration as you will be selling the trees

Could you make yourself into a gift? Or dress in green and put white balls on your outfit, then you can be misletoe!!!

Why not pop along to your local Am Dram office
We have one in Cheadle that hires out any of its costumes and that way you may feel inspired by looking round and of course you can try on whilst there

I last dressed up as a naughty nun for a night out in leeds. I was wearing a habit with a slit up the side right up to the waist, fishnet stockings, red stilettos and bright red lipstick and some daft bint asked if I was really a nun....
When I last dressed up for xmas I went as rudolph but I just wore a brown pair of trousers and a brown top with a beige bit of material sewn down the front to look like the chest and got some antlers from a pound shop and found my comic relief red nose. Didn't cost me anymore than £2 to make.
Got a pic somewhere...
