I planted this shrub last year and now keep hearing that it is a real thug and sends suckers everywhere. I have noticed one sucker, but it is still quite small - I pruned it nearly to ground level earlier this year, as advised. Should I dig it up before it gets out of hand, or will I be able to keep it under control. It is in a part of the garden with a low wall on 2 sides som presumably, that would help control it.

I must admit I've never heard of this one, tried goole and no success.
But anyway they do seem to sucker like mad once they get established. I've just hoiked my Rubus spectabilis Olympic Double out, as it was poppng up all over the place.

Rubus cockburnianus on the other hand is apparently otherwise known as the white stemmed-bramble, as per this BBC Plantfinder link. www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/plants/plant_finder/plant_pages/3252.shtml
