I posted a possible, LL across the way. It looks like a Pterocarya x rehderiana -I'm looking at a pic in tha RHS encyclopedia page 69 here! It says it has long catkins in late summer. I hope it does have a common name because that one is a mouthful!

Thanks Toonia - you must have a more up to date RHS encyclopedia than me I have just found it on page 44 in mine - ( mine is 1991) and the common name is Wing nut! Much easier to remember!

Have you got a photo of Ailanthus altissima in yours? Someone said they thought it may be that - common name Tree of Heaven.
