Hi Margi [and anyone else growing this] Am I right in remembering it was you growing Clematis Korean Beauty from seed this year? I was just wondering how you have got on. Mine have grown fairly well, and I think I saw a flower bud the other day, but I can't remember if I dreamt it! I'm down in the southest, so it would be interesting to compare notes on how they have grown in the different areas. Has your good friend Mrs La P found out anymore about this one? [well someone has got to give her a nudge in this direction!!!!!] ;D

Hello Jonah - I have grown this from seed this year. Good germination rate and growth but no sign of flowers here yet in the north west of England

Hi greentapestry I got mine from Mr Fothergills, and the only info I have been able to find out was from the seed packet. Just noticed on their website that it gets to 3m square, so I may have to move one that is rather close to next door [they have very contained thoughts on plants, don't let a forsythia get above 4 ft!] I have about 3 more plants still sitting in pots homeless, so should get them planted asap before the bad weather arrives. I'll go and check if I was imagining the flower tomorrow and try to post a pic if it was true. The packet said flowers if sown early, and it is in a sheltered spot here, so I may have been lucky. Thanks for your reply <where'sthethumbsupsmiley?!>

Mine germinated well, have lots of growth except the pot the slugs got, they are coming back too now, but definately no flowers, I think my seeds were free with something.

Sorry Margi, I thought it was you. I just checked back on the beeb site and it was lottie lady who had got the seeds. Are you about LL, any joy with your new clems? I have had one flower open and there are some more buds. But it was a bit plain and uninspiring I'm afraid to say. Hopefully next year it will look better. I have no idea what group it is and whether it should be chopped about, especially in its first year, so if anyone can advise..... cheers

Hi Jonah, If you want to know what group a clem is go to this website www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/I think you have to complete a questionnaire for their survey but afterwards you can login at any time to use their database - hundreds of clems with variety, pruning group etc.

Glad to hear that you got some blooms Jonah - perhaps they will be more spectacular next year. I got my seeds from Mr. Fothergills too. Mine did not flower so I will have to hold my breath for the time being. As far as pruning goes it's a clematis chiisanensis and is in group one.

Aw, sorry to hear that LL Thanks for the info Obelixx/greentapestry. I checked on the site and they reckon minimal pruning, so I will probably leave it alone this year and hope that it is blooming marvellous next year! Good luck with yours GT.
