I want to buy this for a friend (called Munday, geddit?). My knowledge of roses is next to nothing - any body recommend where I can get one?

Rosefan, I ordered it from David Austin Roses. It arrived on Saturday very well packed and the rose itself is in excellent condition with a good root spread.
Thanks for the advice.

Mick, I am glad you are pleased with the rose you got from David Austin. I hope your friend will like it. I wish I could say that what I have ordered from David Austin has just arrived. Unfortunately, they do not deliver in Romania. On the other hand, perhaps it would be too risky because The English Roses created by David Austin are my favourites and probably I would like to have them all! My hope is to be able to visit The David Austin Rose Gardens next year and if it happens, that will be a dream come true.

Where I get my roses from? Most of the roses in my garden are roses budded by myself. A few years ago, I joined the Romanian Rose Society at the suggestion of one of my colleague. At that time, I knew little about roses but quickly became interested and started to read a lot about them. Being able to read in English, with the help of the internet and the other societies’ magazines, it was easy to discover the fascinating world of the roses. As I have a large garden, I had a lot of space where to experiment what I had read. My first 10 roses were a gift from the rose society president. Then he gave me rootstock on which I learnt budding. At the moment I have in my garden around 150 bushes but even if i would like more, I think I should stop because there is a lot of work with them. There are not too many nurseries here, where one can buy roses and the assortment is not too large. In this field, we are at the beginning and, generally, the gardening is quite different here from what you do there. I spend hours reading about gardening in UK and admiring the wonderful gardens you have there.

I just had a look on the Cactus Mall and I see that there is a Romanian Cactus society. I will have a look at it later.
If you do come over Rosefan, I would be very pleased to show you round Kew Gardens - my favourite place.

Mick, thank you so much for your kindness. Kew Gardens looks like a lovely place to visit, if I ever come to UK, it will be on my list, which is getting quite long by now. ;D The cacti are fascinating plants; I like them and have some on the windowsill in my apartment but I am afraid I don’t give them all the attention they deserve. Perhaps reading your advice on this message board will make me look more after them. I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Rosefan
