Hello, I really like this bamboo, I hope it continues to stay this small, can anyone advise on how I should look after this plant?

hi TJ, judging by the size (age) of the clump, the height isn't going to change much - so I guess by "stay this small" you mean spread. Bamboo is a spreader but easily kept in check by the simply brutal technique of cutting around it at the desired size with a spade, lifting the severed offshoots out - and potting them up to swap with friends. If the main plant looks really congested, once in a while (5 years?) you can lift the whole thing out, split it and replant, again saving the surplus.

Thank you OM, I did mean height but I hadn't even thought about the spread so thanks for that!!

You can also thin clumps of bamboo out by cutting out as many of the canes within the clump as you want to. I often take out the weaker ones or just where they are congested so you are left with a more graceful looking clump when you are finished.
