I'm having real trouble find a local GH that stocks T&M seeds! Can you believe it Unfortunatley, the seed company I deal with at work does not do any of the varieties listed for the trials . As I have VERY limited space I intend to grow the sweet peas and the toms. The tom seeds I have at work but, can anybody suggest any other company that does the sweet pea seeds? I can't buy online as I do believe we are the ONLY household in the country that doesn't DO credit cards Thanks in anticipation! S x

Not one credit card in the household, only a debit card! No store cards etc etc! If the money isn't there to buy it, we can't afford it! It's worked so far S xx

What happens if your car needs £350 worth of work to get it through the MOT and you haven't got the money ?
To be honest, we're not that bad with credit cards but there are times when we have no other option but to use them.

Susie, We only have a debit card and are the same as you - no credit cards,no store cards etc.We save up for anything we need.
I rarely buy anything online ( only twice actually) and was told it wasn't a good idea to use a debit card online.
So we thought we would get a credit card just in case.
I was so shocked when I applied for one - I was told my limit was £7000.00- that is really shocking, isn't it?
We were thinking of about a £500.00 limit!
It's no wonder people get in a mess with money!

I know exactly what you mean Pam! We are constantly pestered to have a credit card with extortionate limits on them I do think, however, that most people are sensible with them but, it's nice knowing that money coming in isn't being spent on goods we've already had! Each to their own, everybody's different! S x

They put pressure on us at work to get customers to have a store card but I will only talk about them if I am approached by a customer.I find it really hard going up to customers and saying "would you like one of our cards" - if they ever gave us a target I would leave I feel so strongly about it!

I'm the same Susie. No credit cards and 2 debit cards.
I feel about credit cards a bit like Big P feels about me - don't trust em.. keep em at arms length.

To be honest, I see it all the time at work. People who are allegedly earning nowt but living the high life. Most of them are just living on credit.
My "worst" case so far involve someone who was doing ok with his work but had £200000 mortgage, £30000 on credit cards and then went and bought a £30000 Merc, with a loan !! I don't know how he slept at night, I really don't.

I only have a Solo Maestro card-try getting that accepted online! lol I sometimes have to give my boyf the money and buy things on his card. Ruined a birthday present surprise for me last year though.
I've had bad money problems thanks to one particular ex boyf and a few more taking me for a ride. So now I only have one card and my wages to spend and they go pretty sharpish.
Anyway, I don't know if you have a Bickerdykes in your area but when I went to visit boyf's parents a few months back, I dragged him in a local Bickerdykes GC and I believe they stocked T&M seeds.
Oooh and I remember seeing at the bottom of the page on T&M's website they have a link to find out local stockists, you enter your country and county and it tells you the nearest one.

Oh and getting back to the debt thing, I was approached at a service station on the way down to visit Boyf's parents and some woman tried to sign me up for a Unicef credit card. I declined but she persisted. I declined again and she persisted that it would only take a minute etc and it was for chairty blah blah blah so I told her I was bankrupt and she left me alone then. I thought to myself, would Unicef really wish me to get into debt to help them out?

We don't have credit cards, Susie - don't approve of them. We do nearly all our shopping online - haven't found a site yet which doesn't accept a debit card (& I've just ordered seeds from T&M so I know they do).

Susie, As Juliet says, a Debit card is just as readily accepted as credit cards, so you should still be able to order online. I do occasionally use my Debit card to order online, but I mainly use credit cards. So long as you pay off the balance in full at the end of the month/charge period (as I do) you can't go wrong. Failing that, have you checked out T&M's stockist list?... seeds.thompson-morgan.com/uk/en/form/stockists

I used to be like Prince Charles - I don't carry any cash. Now I'm like Steptoe - I only carry cash.
Online I will ONLY use a credit card*, because you can seek recourse from the card company if all else fails. Having said that if we are specifically talking about Thompson & Morgan I wouldn't have any worries about using a debit card!
* Two years ago someone used MY credit card to run up a £1,300 bill. It included premium rate 09 numbers to international porn sites (I checked the numbers with the 'phone regulator not the porn sites just in case you are wondering). Whilst I got the money back, what if, what if, they were kiddie related or something? I could be on some form of "watchlist"!
The credit card company was great by the way.......

Well I have never seen a thread that has gone so off topic before - might as well join in In our household things are very simple - we both have Bank cards - no other way to pay here - we don't have cheques, - and we have one credit card - in MY name. ;D ;D I cannot get any seeds here from UK firms at all, so I am pleased that I have got you lot - otherwise I couldn't do the trials at all, - well certainly not with the chosen seeds. Hey CC - that is great - thanks a lot.
I never thought about checking online as I always buy Kiepenkerl seeds.
RF
Update: I have just had a look and they are asking 2.50 Euro per packet of seeds for P & P. That would be 30 Euro (nearly 20 Pounds) for 12 packets of seeds - that is a bit strong to my mind.
The 20 Pounds minimum to order can quickly be reached though.

2.50 Euros per packet of seeds - that's ridiculous! I was charged £1.49 P&P per order, no matter how many packets of seeds I got.

Well I thought to start with that I had misunderstood and got my OH to look as well - ridiculous - mmmmmh must admit that something stronger escaped from my lips and my OH said very quietly that he hoped that I didn't want any..... I still hope that I have misunderstood. Sometimes during a translation things can get mixed up a little. RF
