sorry Isabella, I couldn't resist it. Obviously I can't help with your issue as as you all know I know absolutely nothing about gardening.

The auto flash has gone on my camera and it will cost £140.00 to mend it so I am saving up for a new one!

Its ridiculous how much they charge for repairs isn't it don't you know someone who "tinkers" who could possibly help fix it?

No,Rita, just changed colour! We noticed that at the end of the Summer the leaves turned brown but didn't fall off - didn't look right then I thought Willows were as tough as old boots but it is a wrong assumption- I have the feeling we are going to lose it

Fingers crossed that you don't lose it Pam - I get attached to my garden plants and I guess you do too. How old is the willow BTW?

Do you have anything growing at the foot of the tree, or have you increased the depth of soil at it's base, Pam? What type of willow is it?

Could the willow be suffering because of too much competition from surrounding plants, I wonder

Maybe Plants in our garden have to get used to having lots of neighbours - that's the way it is

I think willows are quite shallow rooted, so maybe it can't compete with surrounding plants for nutrients

What about an acer Pam? There are all sorts of shapes and sizes, and it would provide a splash of colour in the autumn.

Don't be too sad Isabella. Even with the gaps, you have a beautiful garden, I can only hope that one day I will have something like that to be proud of. That looks a lovely spot to be in the summer. Can I buy it, or come to stay indefinitely? ;D

What, buy it? I'll have to get the trailer out. If you can't bear to have it removed , I'd be quite happy to bring the tent round for a few months [you're good with children, aren't you, I can bring three he he!.] ;D ;D Hope you find some replacements you like soon.
